#1: Australia: Australia is about the size of the United States and is made up of 7 states/territories. Anytime is a great time to go Down Under, but remember that the seasons are opposite of those in the states. A Passport is required and must be valid until at least 6 months after you return. In addition, a Visa is required to say, “G’day, Mate!”
#2: Iceland: Because of its many glaciers, volcanoes, and hot springs, Iceland is rightly known as the “Land of Fire and Ice!” The number of hot springs in Iceland is greater than any other country in the world, and one-eighth of the country is covered with glaciers. Waterfalls galore, and volcanic eruptions occur about every 5 years on the island. Iceland is a photographer’s paradise!
#3: Croatia: If you love crystal clear, turquoise water, beautiful beaches, a spectacular coastline, sailing, and Game of Thrones, you’ll love Croatia, gem of the Adriatic Sea and one of the most beautiful countries in Europe! In the old city of Dubrovnik, you can ride a cable car high above the city for breathtaking views, walk around the top of the historic walled city, kayak the crystal waters, or stroll the limestone-paved streets. A cruise is a great way to experience Croatia, as we did last May and will repeat this June!
#4: Norway: If you have ever dreamed of seeing the Northern Lights or sunrise and sunset all at once, the “Land of the Midnight Sun” is worth packing for! Pack your golf clubs for a round of golf in the middle of the night, with the sun in your eyes! The narrow fjords of Western Norway, the waterfalls, the glaciers, all reasons to go North! Wow! It is worth checking out, maybe at the end of a Baltic Cruise.
#5: America’s National Parks: How about joining in to celebrate the 100 Year Anniversary of the National Park Service on August 25, 2016! For 100 years, the US Park Service has been about the business of protecting and preserving our country’s natural wonders! Now is a great time to experience America’s great outdoors, whether at the Grand Canyon in Arizona, Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor Maine, Alaska’s Glacier Bay, St. John USVI’s Trunk Bay, or California’s Redwood Forest, all of which Dan and I have had the pleasure of visiting in the last few years! So, what are you waiting for? Get your backpack, your water bottle, and some comfortable shoes, and celebrate America, the Beautiful!
